In conquering the universe
there are two problems to solve:
gravity and red tape.
We would have coped with gravity.
(Wernher von Braun)

Even before development we clarify jointly with our customers which regulations and acts the inks must adhere to based on their scope of work and application and if additional external licences are necessary. We work together with renowned institutions and recognised toxicologists. This means we provide an end product which complies to regulations before development has even started.

Food

Here are some examples of rules to be followed:

  • the Food, Articles of Daily Need and German Food and Feed Code (LFGB)
  • Act (EC) No. 889/2008
  • Act (EC) No. 178/2002
  • Directive 94/36/EC
  • Licensing Act for additives in food for technological purposes

Of course the American Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) body of rules and regulations can also play a role. But, be careful: the respective applications have to be identified exactly and the system ink-substrate closely considered, for the FDA does not allow for labelling inks in its body of rules and regulations!

Toys

The legal basics for labelling toys are for example:

  • the Food, Articles of Daily Need and German Food and Feed Code (LFGB)
  • Act 2009/48/EC (applicable since 20th July 2011)

With the applicable standards:

  • DIN EN 71-3 migration of certain elements
  • DIN EN 71-6 graphic symbols to mark as a warning label for a specific age group

Medicinal products

The following standard for example can be used for bio compatible inks:

  • DIN ISO 10993
