Company history
Everything began in the year 2000. Prometho was founded as a sole proprietorship by the current CEO director Ruth Hoffmann. At the time the idea was to offer innovative developments for inks and print colours as a service. In the foreground then, as today, was the use of non-hazardous materials and having a non-hazardous end product.
After inks and print colours functional coatings was quickly added
to the development and testing portfolio so that the decision to construct
a new building was taken in 2003. At the same time the company was
renamed prometho GmbH.
We moved into the new building at the beginning of 2004. In our 250m²
premises appliances for chemical developments, formulas and ink and
print colour applications (Script), functional coatings (Prom), construction
chemistry (Sil) and various chemical services (serVizio) are provided.
In the same year the first trainees began their traineeships at prometho.
Whereas until now the key activities had been in development, in
the future the main focus of business activity should be our own manufactured
products. For this the foundation was laid for a module production
process with the first machines and apparatus. There followed the
first steps into safety marking, which was at first a service for
customers, but later led to our own product and production concept.
In 2007 we registered our first patent: With "Graffiti-to-go" we developed a film-building cleaning system for various undersurfaces. We also use microencapsulation technology which is being further developed for many more applications.
In 2008 it happened: "The warehous is bursting out its seams!" The
first material container was installed and now offers room for all
casks and project samples. And with this we were at last able to start
with our long yearned for stepping up of development of industrial
inks from renewable resources, thanks to aid from the German Environmental
foundation.
With the development project "Industrial inks from renewable resources"
the first degree thesis was awarded and successfully completed in
2009. At the same time we were able to extend the technological application
lab with some new print systems.
In 2010 it finally happened: the first industrial inks from 100%
natural resources were available. Furthermore we introduced the multi-levelled
safety concept secuScript. With the successful conclusion of a collective
project an important building block was developed and made available.
For a long time manufacturers have been scrapping or replacing certain resources, especially dyestuffs, without sufficient replacements. For this prometho offers examinations and tests to discover compatibility or equal value. Since 2011 there is the "tested inkjet capability", which assesses the dyestuff's performance in a special process and with this guarantees trouble-free use in complex and easily under estimated Continuous inkjet-systems. To allow for the demand for quality and ecological awareness we have started preparations for certification in compliance with DIN EN ISO 9001 and 14001.
